A Tier 1 Financial Institution
As a Tier 1 Financial Institution, it is crucial for their IT to have a flexible and agile platform that is automated, resilient and most importantly secured – in short, a platform that is built for Infrastructure as Code. At the same time, to ensure our client’s resources are invested in their core business; they were looking at lowering their total cost of ownership by converting their infrastructure investment from the existing CAPEX model to an OPEX model so that they can utilize their cash flow for sales and marketing driven projects. This was previously restricted as the basic virtualized platform our client was using was not able to fulfil nor support their business requirements.
Furthermore, to enhance their business processes, our client needed to transform their IT workforce’s skillsets to analytics and automation instead of merely maintaining their hardware & infrastructure. After weighing in the scenario presented by our client and their nature of business, AVM Cloud provided the below solutions that we believe will enable them to reduce their provision time and increase their business competitiveness:- Private cloud (Cloud-in-a-Box) – AVM Cloud will be maintaining and upgrading the hardware and software using the data center located in the client’s premises.
- PaaS platform built for Infrastructure as Code – This will allow the client to add new services on to the platform easily upon request
- Shorten provision time – From months to hours, with ability to scale up or down upon request
- OPEX model – Which can be scaled up or down upon request and pay-per-use
Conglomerate
Learn More
A Client from a Conglomerate The increasing demand of resource contentions and expectations from business users caused stress to this client’s infrastructure. On top of production operation issues, the client also faced issues related to server security and disaster recovery (DR). These are typical patterns found in IT environments where operational and strategic decisions could not keep up with the pace of evolution and growth of the virtual infrastructure. To meet the growing needs, a dynamic, scalable and flexible IT infrastructure is imperative. The client also requested for a cheaper alternative to their existing co-location model and suggested the cloud consumption model. Other criteria the client was seeking in the new and improved infrastructure are:Conglomerate
- Reduction of turnaround time
- Improvement in workload performance
- Compliance with data sovereignty
- Adoption of a shared services model so that the IT team could charge their subsidiaries based on actual usage
- Migration of 500 VM under a complex component with capability and experience
- A managed back up, DR and security services
- Flexibility to Scale – We proposed an infrastructure with the flexibility to scale up and down within a short period
- Multi-tiered storage – Upgraded the current storage to a multi-tiered one to ensure a performance-based critical or non-critical workload
- OPEX, pay-per-use Model – Implemented an OPEX, pay-per-use model
- Localised Data Centers - All our data centres are located within Malaysia with a Production to DR site compliance of 30km
- On-time Migration – All migration were completed on-time
- 24x7 support - Managed services for Operating System, backup services, DR and security are provided with 24x7 support
Fast Food Chain
Learn More
This fast food chain’s IT platform was previously built on a traditional infrastructure. The core IT framework offered limited room for expansion, longer turnaround time and high capital expenditure.Fast Food Chain
The client approached AVM Cloud with request for a scalable and automated infrastructure that has “Business on Demand Capability”, which will allow them to expand their business robustly as and when needed with minimum turnaround time.
Other requests from the client include:
- Transform their IT investment from CAPEX to OPEX model to save cost and focus on investment into new technology and innovations.
- To add value to the service providers in terms of business continuity, risk management and other operational services.
- Conduct an operational transformation exercise that will allow their IT staff to take up new challenges.
- Create an infrastructure that will allow the fast food chain’s IT staff to work remotely through their “Workplace Anywhere” initiative and empower them to provide better internal operation support.
- A Virtual Private Cloud - Located in a Tier-3 Enterprise Data Centre, the Virtual Private Cloud is fully managed by AVM Cloud.
- Application Support/Upgrade – A seamless application migration and upgrade that has minimum impact to business was created through temporary resource assignment and snapshot rollback.
- Network/Security Management – The network and security is tightly controlled and can only be accessed by authorized traffic. Public websites are closely monitored by the Security Operation Centre for any abnormal attempts. The Infrastructure also offers business continuity and is protected by the Disaster Recovery Site.
- Compute resources that can be dynamically scaled up and down according to the business needs with minimum provisioning turnaround time.
- A Virtual Desktop Infrastructure or VDI that provides IT staff the flexibility to work remotely even on their mobile devices. VDIs can be assigned temporarily or permanently without having to invest on any physical hardware.
